Here are some helpful hints to ensure a smooth and unforgettable honeymoon!

1. Plan Ahead - We recommend that you start making your travel reservations 6-8 months in advance. This will give you the best availability and room selection. By booking early, you'll also be able to take advantage of the early booking bonuses that most tour companies offer.

2. Time - Consider how long you want to be gone. This factors in to the destination that you choose and the total cost of your honeymoon. You'll want to consider jet lag into your travel time if you are traveling a long way from home. You may want to think about leaving on your honeymoon a day or 2 after your wedding. This gives you a day to relax, spend time with out of town guests and pack. You don't want to feel rushed. If your vacation schedule is tight on time, try to pick a destination that is close to home or easy to get to.

3. Budget - Splurge a little!! - Do the best you can afford. Your honeymoon will be a lifelong memory. Many things factor into your trip costs. These include air fare, the type of hotel you select, the activities and sightseeing you take and the destination you choose. For example, Mexico and the Dominican Republic are less expensive then Aruba or Hawaii. Many Mexico and Caribbean islands as well as cruises offer all-inclusive options. This is often the best way to budget for your trip. Your package rate you pay prior to traveling includes your air fare, accommodations, meals, drinks, snacks, entertainment, and some water sports. The amenities vary from hotel to hotel. This is a good option for those who want only to relax at their resort for their whole vacation. Others like to explore and do not want to be held to the all inclusive options. Destinations like Hawaii, Europe, Costa Rica, Belize and Australia, do not offer as many of the all-inclusive option. If you plan on traveling to one of these places, you will need to set aside money for food, drinks, tips and entertainment.

4. Activities - Think about all the things that you like to do TOGETHER. This is a vacation for both of you. Determining your likes and dislikes can help you pick the perfect destination. You'll want to select a place that offers plenty of activities that you both enjoy doing together. Keep in mind that you may want to take the 1st day to relax, unwind, and enjoy each other. After that, you'll want to enjoy all there is to offer at your honeymoon destination.

5. Take Lots of Pictures - Force yourselves…….These are memories of a lifetime.

6. Packing Carry all your valuables, medicine, documents, and an extra change of clothes with you in your carry-on. Should your luggage get lost, you will not be without the necessities. It is also a good idea to pack some of each others clothes in each suitcase, in the case on suit case makes it and the other doesn't.

7. Travel Documents Many destinations require proof of citizenship. Make sure your passport or birth certificate are up to date.

8. Trip Insurance We suggest purchasing trip insurance when you confirm your honeymoon. Insurance is designed to protect you should an unexpected event happen and force you to cancel or post pone your trip. Some policies also cover lost baggage, travel delay and 24 hour travel assistance.
